Our Trustees
Our dedicated team are passionate about music and the Edinburgh community and making sure that opportunities, support and education is available for everyone. Our trustee’s are enthusiastic musicians who are creating a space that they wish existed when they were just starting out in the industry.
Chas Bacon - trustee
Originally from Bristol, i was born into a musical family. Despite my parents attempts to introduce me to the drums at age four, it wasn’t until school that revisited it and truly became hooked. I spent many years drumming along to rock and metal bands in my bedroom, which eventually led me into joining a band within the original music scene in Bristol. Chasing the ‘rockstar dream’ was a great experience that led to many gigs and UK tours – but as all good things do, that band came to an end. Following that I started depping for whatever opportunity came my way, which eventually opened the door to the function scene. Whilst not entirely in my comfort zone, it certainly expanded my skills, and demanded a level of musical discipline I’d never experienced before.
My other keen interest since young was always Computers and in order to ‘pay the bills’ and sustain my music ambitions (which aren’t cheap)! I was simultaneously working for a large financial services company as an entry level IT analyst. As my original music ambitions wound down, my IT career ramped up, which led me to major IT project and the opportunity to move to Edinburgh in early 2017.
When moving to Edinburgh my first thought was to find a way to continue playing drums and look for what opportunities there were Edinburgh. One of the first groups i met was Edinburgh Jam Group and through this met many musicians and friends. I then spent many years, every weekend in bands playing all of Edinburghs local venues, whilst continuing to attend many of the open jams – that still continue today!

Volunteers
We have a group of incredible volunteers that help us out in so many different ways. From hosting jams, event support and creating content for social media we couldn’t do this without them. If you’d be interested in joining our community, developing some skills and helping us out, head over to our volunteers page and see which roles would best suit you and get in touch!
Donate
The only way we can continue to support the local community and create opportunities for upcoming bands is with your help. We’re a small team working based on a volunteer basis but we still need help paying artists, booking venues and keeping our studio running.
You can make a one-off donation at any time by clicking on the “Donate” button anywhere on our website. Or you can join our ‘Friends of Edinburgh Jam Group’ which will give you early access to all events with free admission, exclusive events, getting that feel good factor for supporting a good cause and more.
